Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday following the gains in major European markets.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 59.89 points, or 0.66 percent, from Monday to 9,179.03. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues expanded 3.43 points, or 0. 44 percent, to 775.49.
Sentiments among investors were lifted by major European markets' gains and narrowed losses on Wall Street overnight after elections in France and Greece, analysts said. |
