Group of Twenty (G20)leaders on Friday declared their establishment of a network to share information on anti-corruption so as to deny corrupt officials' entry into their countries.

"We have established a G20 network to share information and cooperate in order to deny entry to our countries by corrupt officials and those who corrupt them, in accordance with national laws and regulations," the leaders said in a joint statement known as the St. Petersburg Declaration.

The leaders called upon countries to engage actively with the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) working group on bribery with a view to exploring possible adherence to the OECD anti-bribery convention.

"Corruption is a severe impediment to sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction and can threaten financial stability and economy as a whole," said the document.

"As a group of the world's largest economies, the G20 has the potential to create unstoppable momentum toward a global culture of intolerance toward corruption," it said.

The leaders also pledged intensified efforts to achieve this goal, in particular by enhancing transparency and closing implementation and enforcement gaps.
