Thirty-three of the newEgyptian cabinet's 35 members have been confirmed, Egyptian Prime Minister Hesham Qandil said Thursday during a press conference in Cairo's Cabinet Headquarters.

The new cabinet has 35 ministries, including four new ones like State Ministry of Sports, State Ministry of Youth, Investment Ministry among others, said Qandil.

"We have confirmed 33 ministers. Candidates for sports minister and civil aviation minister are still under consultation," said the prime minister.

Seven ministers of the outgoing Ganzouri cabinet, including Defense Minister Hussein Tantawi, will continue to hold their posts in the new cabinet, Qandil added.

According to a line-up published by the official news agency MENA, the Muslim Brotherhood, which sponsored President MohamedMorsi's victory, has four seats in the cabinet, covering the youth, housing, higher education and information portfolios.

The new government groups as well a member from the Wasat party for the legislative councils and parliamentary affairs portfolio and a member of the Nahda Party for the industry and foreign trade portfolio, MENA reported.

Acting as the irrigation minister in former Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri's cabinet, Qandil was appointed as the new prime minister by Morsi on July 24.

His appointment sparked some controversy among political forces and citizens. Some say the country needs an economic expert to be the prime minister while Qandil lacks such experience. Others say Qandil should be given a chance and people should wait to see his performance.

The bearded new prime minister also makes some people worry that he shares the same ideology with Morsi.

Morsi, from the Muslim Brotherhood, was elected as the first civilian president of Egypt in June and assumed office on June 30. However, the military council, which has transferred power to Morsi, retains legislative power as the People's Assembly (lower house of parliament) was dissolved in June due to unconstitutionality. A new constitution has not been drafted either.
