Police in the U.S. state of New Mexico confirmed via a Twitter message that multiple casualties and serious injuries have been reported after a Greyhound bus crash in New Mexico Thursday afternoon.
State Police said, "Officers and EMS (Emergency Management Services) are still working this scene actively. More information will be released when available."
The crash, involving a Greyhound bus and semi, led to shutting down westbound I-40 near Thoreau, about 170 km northwest of Albuquerque, the largest city in the state of New Mexico.
Local media quoted Greyhound officials as saying that the bus was traveling from Albuquerque to Phoenix in the state of Arizona with 47 passengers on board.
However, State Police have not released how many people were killed in the crash, and it is unclear what caused the crash.
