The ruling Pheu Thai Party will on Monday submit a constitutional amendment draft to the government whips for consideration, party spokesman Prompong Nopparit said on Sunday.
Prompong said the amendment draft had been examined by the party's legal team.
The draft would propose the amendment of Section 291 of the constitution for the establishment of a 99-member constitutional drafting assembly (CDA) -- 77 elected by the people from each province and 22 selected from academics and experts in various fields.
The draft would be submitted to the House of Representatives this coming week, he added.
The Pheu Thai-led government has planned to revise the 2007 constitution which was imposed during the military regime by using the 1997 constitution as a model. |
