Indian engineer arrested for comments on Facebook targeting PM
Indian police have arrested an engineer in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly posting "communal and inflammatory" comments on his social networking site's home page, a senior police official said Tuesday.
Sanjay Chowdhary was held in Agra late Monday night for posting comments on Facebook which allegedly targeted Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Communications Minister Kapil Sibal and Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
However, the police of Agra city, Subhash Chandra Dubey, said, "We are not involved in the political angle of the whole issue, our concerns were the inflammatory comments and posts on the Facebook wall of this man and we acted to prevent any communal flare up."
