Singapore's manufacturing output rises 6 pct in July

Singapore Economic Development Board announced on Friday that the city-state's manufacturing output grew by six percent year on year in July, compared to the revised eight percent increase in June.

Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output grew 5.1 percent year on year in July, compared to 6.8 percent in June.

In the first seven months, Singapore's manufacturing output grew 9.9 percent year on year.

On a seasonally adjusted month-on-month basis, Singapore's manufacturing output fell 1.7 percent in July. Excluding biomedical manufacturing, output grew 0.4 percent.

In a breakdown and on a year-on-year basis, the electronics cluster's output increased 5.4 percent in July, the chemicals cluster's output grew 7.4 percent, the transport engineering cluster's output grew 9.6 percent, the biomedical manufacturing cluster's output surge 10.1 percent, the precision engineering cluster's output grew 3.4 percent, but the general manufacturing industries saw their outputs down 0.6 percent.
