At least 1 killed, 33 people injured in blast in southern Philippines
At least one person was killed and 33 others were injured in a homemade bomb blast on Tuesday night in Sultan Kudarat province of southern Philippines, local police said.
Noel Kinazo, the Sultan Kudarat provincial police chief, told Xinhua in a telephone interview that the homemade bomb went off somewhere between 8:35 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. local time in front of a restaurant on a highway in a town named Isulan.
Kinazo said at least two of the 33 injured were critically wounded.
The victims were reportedly brought to a nearby hospital and a clinic.
The explosion occurred while residents are celebrating a fiesta, the police chief added.
An investigation into the incident was underway, he said.
