Serbian defense industry's export has exceeded 250 million euros (325 million U.S. dollars) annually in recent years, said Serbian Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac on Thursday.
"In the last four years, Serbia has penetrated foreign markets from Indonesia to Canada and the U.S.," Sutanovac was quoted by the Serbian news agency Tanjug as saying, promising stronger performance this year.
He added that the Serbian Defense Ministry has invested considerable funds in the research and development of the military equipment.
During his visit to Prva Petoletka earlier in the day, a Serbian manufacturer of hydraulics and pneumatics located in Trstenik, central Serbia, Sutanovac noted that Serbian defense industry employs around 10,000 people.
He underlined that the military-related companies export over 90 percent of their products, while the Defense Ministry has been helping by purchasing domestic products. |
