France, Chad to promote bilateral co-op

French President Francois Hollande met with his Chadian counterpart Idriss Deby on Wednesday with both sides pleging to promote cooperation between the two sides.

"France would continue to support Chad in its development projects and environmental protection," Hollande said in a statement from the French Presidency.

He added that France would also continue its efforts to fight against food insecurity facing Chad through agricultural programs.

During the meeting, the two leaders also discussed the security situation in Sahel region and violence in northern Nigeria.

Hollande reiterated France would provide logistical support to African intervention to restore territorial integrity of Mali and the fight against terrorist groups in the north of the country.
