Jordanian FM to convey U.S. message to Palestinians
Last Updated(Beijing Time):2012-03-06 21:43

Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh will meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas Wednesday to convey a U.S. message about stalled Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, sources said Tuesday.

Judeh will visit the West Bank and meet Abbas at his office in Ramallah, the sources told Xinhua.

The sources did not reveal the substance of the message, but said it will likely focus on efforts to revive the negotiations.

It comes a day after reports said that the Palestinian leadership was discontent because U.S. President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not discuss the stalled Middle East peace process when they met Monday.

The peace talks stopped in 2010, owing to Palestinians' rejection of Jewish settlement construction in the West Bank.

In January, Jordan hosted six rounds of exploratory talks between Israel and the Palestinians. The discussions aimed at restarting the peace process.

Israel and the Palestinian leadership have traded blames on the failure of these talks.
