Egypt's military is searching Taba zone in Sinai as well as Egyptian-Israeli borders on Thursday for evidences of launching missiles from that area on southern Israel, Egyptian senior military source told Xinhua.

After Israeli authorities claimed a rocket was launched from Egypt's Sinai on southern Israeli city of Eilat, Egyptian military and security forces are intensifying security measures by sweeping Taba zone and Negev dessert near Israeli borders.

"Egyptian military is operating an air sweep over the zone, and other security groups and trace experts are sweeping the dessert zone," the source who preferred to be anonymous added.

On the other hand, eyewitnesses in security forces told Xinhua that they heard on Wednesday a sound of an explosion in Israel's Eilat, near Egypt's Taba, which led Israel to close Taba crossing for two hours.
