Narcotics smuggling attempt thwarted at Beirut port
The Lebanese Internal Security Forces (ISF) on Thursday thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic pills destined to one of the Arabian Gulf emirates.
The ISF said that it "thwarted an attempt to smuggle millions of captagon pills before they were to be shipped to the Gulf from Beirut port."
"The pills were hidden in three containers filled with corn kernels ... seven similar containers in three shipments have managed to leave Beirut port earlier this year to the same destination," the ISF said. Investigations are still going on.
Last month the Lebanese authorities intercepted the smuggling of more than five million captagon pills destined to Arabian Gulf countries.
