Tokyo stocks open slightly higher amid concerns over U.S. tariffs on China

Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Tuesday.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged up 12.34 points, or 0.05 percent, from Friday to 23,107.01.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, rose 3.45 points, or 0.20 percent, at 1,732.06.

Insurance, iron and steel, and air transportation-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes from the morning bell.
