The Belarusian economy grew by 3.7 percent year on year in the first nine months of this year, the Belarusian National Statistical Committee said Tuesday.

The country's GDP growth in 2018 gradually slowed down: 5.1 percent in the first quarter, 4.8 percent in January-April, 4.7 percent in January-May, 4.5 percent in January-June, 4.4 percent in January-July, and 3.7 percent in January-August.

After briefing the president on the economy's performance in Q1-Q3 2018, Belarusian Prime Minister Sergei Rumas told reporters that Belarus' economic growth leveled out at 3.7 percent in the three quarters of 2018, adding the key targets set for the government were fulfilled.

Earlier, the Belarusian authorities set a target of 3.5 percent growth for 2018.

In 2017, Belarus' GDP grew 2.4 percent after a 2.6-percent decline in 2016.
