Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural futures traded lower on Thursday morning, with soybeans falling double digit as farmers tried to speed up harvest delayed by wet weather.
As of 1504 GMT, the most active December corn was down 2.5 cents at 3.7175 dollars per bushel, and December wheat was down 4 cents at 5.135 dollars, while November soybeans were down 14.75 cents at 8.71 dollars per bushel.
The soybean harvest in northern Iowa, a major soy growing state, was halted in the first half of this month by heavy rains which turned fields into a muddy mess, reported Radio Iowa.
Amid drier weather in the U.S. Midwest, farmers now can get back to harvest crops that had been sitting in fields.
An official crop report released on Monday showed Iowa's soybean harvest at 19 percent, which was 11 days behind the average. Many soy growers there complained that they had not picked a bean due to the unfavorable weather. Enditem
