The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC) kicked off on Monday, state-run Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported.

The conference, which is set to be held from Nov. 12-15 at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, was opened by Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, chief of Abu Dhabi crown prince's court.

"With the support and follow-up of the leadership, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and (its capital) Abu Dhabi have established their position as a global destination for global energy sector dialogue," Sheikh Hamed said when talking about the four-day annual event.

He also expressed confidence that the discussions due to be held among experts in this conference will significantly influence the reality and future of global oil and gas sector.

According to the Gulf News, the conference is expected to welcome over 2,200 exhibiting companies, an eight percent increase from last year.

These companies will include 42 national and international oil companies, up 23 percent compared with 2017.
