Tokyo stocks open lower as investors move to lock in gains
Tokyo stocks opened lower Friday, as investors moved to lock in gains amid a lack of fresh cues after the Nikkei's rally over the last two days.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 83.09 points, or 0.38 percent, from Thursday to 21,733.10.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 3.00 points, or 0.19 percent, at 1,613.65.
Precision instrument, bank, and nonferrous metal-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
