Malaysia's inflation up 0.2 pct in November

Malaysia's consumer price index (CPI) increased 0.2 percent year-on-year in November, its official data showed Wednesday.

The Malaysian Statistics Department said in a statement that the increase in the overall index was due to higher price for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, education, restaurants and hotels, food and non-alcoholic beverages, alcoholic beverages and tobacco.

The overall index for food and non-alcoholic beverages which accounted 29.5 percent in the CPI weights increased 1.1 percent in November.

On a monthly basis, CPI increased 0.2 percent as compared to October.

For the January to November period, CPI recorded a growth of 1 percent as compared to the same period last year.
