A dangerous turn was on the biathlon track for the Sochi-2014 Winter Olympics, and it must be fixed before the Games, head of the Russian Olympic Committee Alexander Zhukov said Sunday.
Many athletes competing in the first test event last week fell on the steep slopes of the track.
"The biathlon track will have to be corrected. You've probably seen that there is a place where there is a very dangerous turn and some athletes can't cope with it, they fly off," the Interfax news agency quoted Zhukov as saying.
He said the track would be fixed quite easily, adding "it won't be simplified but made safe".
Many athletes have said the track was extremely difficult, with some joking its steep descents would be better suited for alpine skiers.
France's Martin Fourcade has secured the defense of his overall biathlon World Cup title so far with victory in Thursday's individual race and also won Saturday's sprint.
