Nikkei opened higher Tuesday while sentiment was lifted on a surge in Shanghai stocks the previous day.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 57.54 points, or 0.69 percent, from Friday to 8,447. 89, after two straight days of losses.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 6.57 points, or 0.90 percent, at 736. 17. Financial markets in Tokyo were closed Monday for a national holiday. |
