Peng Liyuan invites foreign leaders' spouses to watch Chinese opera

Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, on Saturday invited spouses of foreign leaders attending the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing to watch Chinese Kunqu Opera and Peking Opera.

Peng said that countries jointly building the Belt and Road all have distinctive cultures, and China is willing to strengthen civilization exchanges and mutual learning with other countries.

The performances won high praise and warm applause from the guests. They also took a group photo with the performers.

Nearly 90% of respondents expressed being "very delighted" or "quite satisfied" with China's business climate, marking an improvement from prior years.

In 2024, China's energy security and green development have been further improved. The total amount of primary energy production has continued to increase, and energy self-sufficiency rate has remained above 80 percent. The production of raw coal, crude oil, and natural gas has been steadily increased. The development of new energy industry has achieved outstanding results, and the proportion of power generated by clean energy has continued to increase. The proportion of major industrial hydropower, nuclear power, wind power, and solar power generation has been increased to 32.6 percent.
