A young Indian couple living in the U.S. Bay Area were identified as victims of falling from an overlook in Yosemite National Park, according to local media reports on Tuesday.

Meenakshi Moorthy, 30, and her husband, Vishnu Viswanath, 29, both born in India and living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area, died last week as they fell from Taft Point, a scenic spot located 3,500 feet (1,067 meters) above Yosemite Valley, according to park officials.

The couple maintained a website called "Holidays and Happily Ever Afters" about their travel adventures, and described themselves as a "dream doer duo," according to local media.

Park rangers recovered their bodies Thursday on steep terrain 800 feet (244 meters) below Taft Point.

The recovery operation involved park rangers using technical climbing and rappelling techniques, in addition to helicopter support from the California Highway Patrol for a short-haul operation.

Park officials were still investigating the cause of their deaths, and the investigation could take several days, said Jamie Richards, a spokesperson of Yosemite National Park.

Yosemite is located in California's Sierra Nevada mountains. Taft Point is a popular hiking destination with views of Yosemite Falls. At its peak, Taft Point's elevation is more than 7,000 feet (2,134 meters).
