Tokyo shares open mixed on stronger yen
Tokyo shares opened mixed Thursday as yen's rise against the U.S. dollar offset buying mood.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 3.12 points, or 0.01 percent, from Wednesday to 22,611.13.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 11.11 points, or 0.63 percent, to 1,764.59.
Gainers were led by mining, land transportation and metal product issues, while decliners were led by pharmaceutical and shipping issues.
