French hostage in Yemen released: Elysee
Alain Goma, French national, who has been in captivity in Yemen for more than four months, was released on Tuesday, the French presidency announced.
"Our compatriot Alain Goma, who has been held for over four months and half in Yemen, was released today," the Elysee said.
In a press release, Macron "congratulates all those who contributed to this happy outcome," and thanked the Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said al-Said and the Saudi authorities "for their decisive commitment."
On June 3, Goma, on sailing trip, was abducted by Houthi rebels when he had been forced to dock in Yemeni port of Hodeida due to damage on his ship.
The 54-year-old sailor will return home "shortly," according to the Elysee.
