Tokyo stocks open lower on Dow's retreat

Tokyo stocks opened lower Tuesday tracking losses on the Dow Jones Industrial Average overnight.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 308.94 points, or 1.37 percent, from Monday to 22,305.88.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 21.44 points, or 1.26 percent, to 1,673.87.

Metal product, construction, and electric power and gas-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
