For the month of July 2018, Brunei recorded 366.7 million Brunei dollars (264.6 million U.S. dollars) trade balance from 307.2 million Brunei dollars in July 2017, a 19.4 percent year-on-year rise.
According to the latest statistics released by the Department of Economic Planning and Development (JPKE) at the Prime Minister's Office on Wednesday, the exports amounted to 841.0 million Brunei dollars in July 2018, a 41.6 percent year-on-year increase. Mineral Fuels recorded the highest contribution with 748.4 million Brunei dollars, or 89.0 percent of total exports.
The biggest export market was Japan with 22.5 percent of total exports, followed by Australia (14.1 percent), South Korea (13.3 percent) and Thailand (11.5 percent).
In July 2018, total imports were valued at 474.3 million Brunei dollars, a 65.5 percent year-on-year increase.
The highest imports came from the Chinese mainland with 47 percent of total imports, followed by Singapore (14.6 percent) and Malaysia (12.7 percent).
