Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) agricultural commodities closed higher on Thursday, with soybean futures surging over three percent, amid expectations for U.S.-China trade talks.
The most active corn contract for December delivery edged up 3.5 cents, or 0.96 percent, to close at 3.6675 dollars per bushel. December wheat delivery rose 7.5 cents, or 1.5 percent, to close at 5.08 dollars per bushel. 2019 January soybean delivery added 30.25 cents, or 3.55 percent, to close at 8.82 dollars per bushel.
Corn and wheat also firmed, following soybeans and as the U.S. dollar weakened, making purchases of U.S. shipments less expensive for buyers holding other currencies.
As for weather forecast for agricultural crop, storms are hammering parts of western Kentucky, southern Illinois, and southern Indiana Thursday morning as more flood warnings have been issued in the area, according to the National Weather Service.
