Tokyo stocks open higher
Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 224.96 points, or 1.01 percent, from Friday to 22,576.02.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 16.77 points, or 1.01 percent, at 1,684.22.
Marine transportation, transportation equipment and machinery-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
