Belarus planned to increase exports of high-tech products by 20 percent by the end of the year, Alexander Shumilin, Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus, told reporters on Wednesday.
The task of exporting high-tech products for this year has been set at 32.7 percent in the total volume of Belarusian exports, increasing from 30.9 percent in 2015, Shumilin said here at the opening of the business seminar on opportunities and prospects in the export of innovative products.
Achieving the average European indicators means that gaining one tenth of a percent implies serious efforts, he said.
Following the results of this year, Belarus is expected to export 13.5 billion U.S. dollars worth of high-tech products, up 20 percent from last year.
Shumilin said it is important to strengthen the awareness of the private sector about the mechanisms and conditions of support that the government offers for the production and export of high-tech products.
Meanwhile, it is important to hear opinions of producers about what they lack in order to achieve the most significant results, he added.
