Tokyo stocks drop in morning touching a nine-month low
Tokyo stocks dropped Wednesday morning, with the benchmark Nikkei stock index touching a nine-month low as SoftBank Group Corp.'s mobile unit's opening price fell short of its IPO.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 90.35 points, or 0.43 percent, from Tuesday to 21,025.10.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 5.5 points, or 0.35 percent, at 1,557.01.
Mining, electric power and gas, and oil and coal product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
