Nikkei edged up on bargain-hunting Monday after a sharp fall in the previous session.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 22.58 points, or 0. 26 percent, from Friday at 8,633.89. But the broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 0. 39 point, or 0.05 percent, lower at 725.15.
Gainers included the insurance, fishery and forestry, and real estate sectors. Decliners were led by the securities, transport equipment and banking sectors.
The turnover was about 865.6 billion yen (about 10.92 billion U. S.dollars). |
