Nikkei edged up on hope of Chinese economic growth on Tuesday.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 95.40 points, or 1. 10 percent at 8,729.29.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished up 8.18 points, or 1.13 percent, at 733.33.
Gainers included the sea transport, mining and machinery sectors. Decliners were led by the electricity and gas, fishery and forestry, and information and communication sectors.
The turnover was about 917.4 billion yen (about 11.54 billion U. S. dollars). |
