The U.S. dollar traded below 98 yen in early Tokyo trading Thursday.

At 9 a.m., the dollar was quoted at 97.79-84 yen compared with 97.83-93 yen in New York and 97.84-86 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The euro fetched at 1.3298-3306 dollar and 130.13-15 yen against 1.3298-3308 dollar and 130.22-32 yen in New York and 1. 3280-3282 dollar and 129.93-97 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday afternoon.
