Dollar trades in mid-96 yen range in early Tokyo deals

The U.S. dollar traded in the mid-96 yen range early Thursday morning in Tokyo, after hitting a new six- week low against the yen in New York overnight.

At 9 a.m., the dollar was quoted at 96.56-58 yen compared with 96.28-38 yen in New York and 96.88-90 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The euro fetched 1.3339-3340 dollars and 128.81-82 yen against 1.3331-3341 dollars and 128.45-55 yen in New York and 1.3280-3282 dollars and 128.66-70 yen in Tokyo late Wednesday afternoon.
