Dollar trades at upper 96 yen level in early Tokyo deals

The U.S. dollar traded at the upper 96 yen level early Friday in Tokyo, almost unchanged from its overnight levels in New York.

At 9 a.m., the dollar was quoted at 96.76-77 yen compared with 96.67-77 yen in New York and 96.20-22 yen in Tokyo at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The euro fetched 1.3378-3380 dollars and 129.46-48 yen against 1.3377-3387 dollars and 129.30-40 yen in New York and 1.3344-3347 dollars and 128.38-42 yen in Tokyo late Thursday afternoon.
