Tokyo stocks open marginally higher on U.S. stocks' gains
Tokyo stocks opened marginally higher Wednesday tracking gains on Wall Street overnight, but advances here were quickly pared following the market's six-day run of closing highs.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 73.26 points, or 0.32 percent, from Tuesday to 22,886.73.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 7.00 points, or 0.40 percent, at 1,738.63.
Marine transportation, precision instrument, and bank-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
