A Palestinian child died Wednesday of earlier wounds, as Israel and Palestinians exchanged sporadic fires against each other despite the declaration of an unofficial ceasefire.
Baraka al-Mughrabi, aged 7, was seriously wounded in an Israeli airstrike against northern Gaza Strip on Monday. A medical spokesman said he died on Wednesday morning.
In the same raid that injured al-Mughrabi, a 12-year-old student was killed immediately and four other students were injured.
The death of the boy raises the number of Palestinians killed in the latest round of Israeli attacks to 26, six of whom were civilians. The violence started Friday when an Israeli missile killed a leader of a militant group, sparking Palestinian rocket attacks on Israel.
Early Wednesday, Israeli airplanes bombed a wood warehouse with two missiles, causing fire that burnt the entire store, witnesses said.
The attack comes less than 24 hours after Gaza militant groups announced their commitment to a ceasefire that Egypt brokered. Israel said the airstrike was in response to the firing of a Grad rocket by Palestinian militants on Tuesday night. |
