Spanish shares gained on Wednesday, with the benchmark stock market index Ibex-35 up 0.99 percent or 87.40 points, to a total of 8,893.50 points.

Spain's energy company Repsol advanced 4.35 percent, the top gainer of the day. Airline group IAG rose 3.84 percent and automotive company CIE Automotive went up 3.72 percent.

Supermarket chain DIA lost 3.45 percent, followed by Spanish bank BBVA and electricity supplier R.E.C. that went down 1.75 percent and 0.92 percent respectively. Enditem
