Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) wheat futures traded higher on Thursday morning over signs of increasing demand.
Egypt recently secured 180,000 metric tons of Romanian and Russian wheat for early February arrival. It paid an average price of 242 U.S. dollars per metric ton, compared to 237 dollars for the tender last week.
The world's largest wheat buyer also purchased 120,000 metric tons from U.S. suppliers last week.
The solid demand and rising world prices pushed the grain futures to the highest level since September.
Soybean futures, after two consecutive days of rise, retreated sharply on Thursday morning amid profit-taking.
As of 1619 GMT, the most active March 2019 wheat was up 8.75 cents at 5.3525 dollars per bushel. January soybeans were down 10.5 cents at 9.095 dollars per bushel. March corn was up 0.5 cent at 3.8575 dollars per bushel. Enditem
